The incumbent president of Bradesco, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi will be stepping down after holding the position since 2003. Bradesco has named Octavio de Lazari Junior to be the 5th president to take office. Octavio de Lazari Junior is currently the Executive Officer Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Bradesco Seguros Group.
Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi explained the process to nominate the next president was very long a meticulous process of assessing what was in the best interest of the organization and ultimately decided on Octavio de Lazari Junior. Before his almost ten years as the president, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi was the Chief Executive and Vice President of Bradesco. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi also was the Executive Director and President of Bradesco’s private pension company, a position he held from 1992 to 1998.

Octavio de Lazari Junior attended Administrative Sciences of Osaco where he earned his Graduates degree in economics. Octavio de Lazari Junior also attended Fundacao Instituto de Administracao, from which he attained a specialization in Financial Strategies and Marketing. Beginning his career in 1978, Octavio de Lazari Junior became an agency manager with Bradesco. Octavio de Lazari Junior gained experience in the credit sector and became the Director. As Director, Octavio de Lazari Junior focused more on small and medium size corporations. It was in 2012, Octavio de Lazari Junior was appointed to the Board of Directors, and later in 2017 Executive Officer Vice President and Chief Executive Officer.

The news was released that the retirement of Lazaro Brandao would be added to the coming changes. Lazaro Brandao will be retiring from the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors effective this year. The economist has been with Bradesco for 75 years, and on the council for 27 years. The 91 year Lazaro Brandao, has contributed tremendously to what has made up Bradesco’s successful history, and his absence will be felt. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi further detailed the appointment of Carlos Alberto Rodrigues Guilherme to the Vice Presidency of the council. Carlos Alberto Rodrigues Guilherme has been an employee since he was 13.
Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi went on to detail the plans to make the official appointment during the upcoming AGO meeting scheduled for March 2018. The AGO meeting is the Ordinary General Assembly, and the Central Bank requires the newly appointed president be made public 30 days before the meeting.
Lazaro Brandao shared suggestion and his take on the economic future of Brazil. Mr. Lazaro Brandao feels there is very little political unity currently and it is having an adverse effect on the economic growth. Lazaro Brandao further detailed the need for labor reform and this being a very difficult solution to implement it is necessary for continued growth.
